In San Diego, the busiest hours are Friday and Saturday evenings and any night with a big game, when quoted delivery times can stretch past an hour; ordering before 5 p.m. or picking up yourself avoids the wait. Delivery radiuses are small, often two to five miles, and a minimum order plus a delivery fee is normal, with a tip of a few dollars for the driver on top. Lunch specials such as two slices and a drink, or a personal pie, are the cheapest way to eat at most shops across California on weekdays. Toppings are priced per item and half-and-half pies are usually free to request. Gluten-free crusts and vegan cheese are increasingly common but often cost a few dollars extra, and cross-contact in a shared oven is standard unless the shop says otherwise.

San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Diego follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

we were SO excited to come support a LGBTQ+ & women-owned business! we had our eye on the garlic knot pizza. it took about 45 min to get our pizza, which we weren't expecting (a heads up while ordering would have been helpful). the staff were extremely kind and helpful to make vegan accommodations. they checked multiple times to make sure it was prepared correctly. unfortunately we didn't love the pizza...it lacked salt, garlic, and honestly flavor.

Mixed feelings about Gnarly Girl. I was excited to try the famous tomato soup pizza, but unfortunately, itβs not available by the slice (at least today), and the smallest whole pie is ~$30. Since we didn't want that much food, we got the Fred Flintstone and BBQ Chicken slices instead. The pizza itself was just okay; if youβre looking for a traditional chewy NY crust, this isn't itβ¦it's just "crispy." At $9 a slice ($18 total for two), the pricing feels pretty terrible for the quality. On the plus side, service was decent, they have a good beer/wine list, and sitting outside across from the Lafayette Hotel offers a great vibe and views.

Gnarly Girls is hands-down the BEST place for pizza in North Park/University Heights. We go for pizza twice a week- as weβre lucky enough to live close by- and each time the quality of the pizza, the friendliness of the staff and good pricing is consistent! Letβs talk about the garlic-knot pie crust pizza pies first! We usually go for a half and half PBJ (pepperoni, bacon and jalepeno) paired with the Christmas pie (white base, marinara, green pesto and ricotta). Both flavours are delicious with special mention of the tomato marinara as itβs clearly homemade, with the taste of the tomatoes and herbs strong and flavourful. The knot crust is heaven! The knots are crispy and garlicky on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside- a clear indication of the homemade and fresh dough made on the premises. The garlic and Parmesan on the crust adds an additional texture which makes it all the more enjoyable. The single slices are of course equally as yummy. Flavours vary on a hour-by-hour basis and include but not limited to pepperoni, cheese, hawtroni (highly recommend), Barney Rubble and Violetβs Fave. The slices are usually out, piping hot on your plate within 10 minutes of ordering. C

We discovered Gnarly Girl Pizza on TikTok and decided to make the 45-minute drive and it was absolutely worth it! For our first visit, we tried the BBQ Chicken, Violetβs Fav, and the Buffalo Chicken pizzas, and every one was outstanding. The flavors were fresh, creative, and perfectly balanced. The quality of the food and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. Weβll definitely be back again and are already looking forward to trying the Peach Pizza this summer. If youβre on the fence, make the drive, you wonβt regret it!

Amazing pizza!!! We tried the Okie Dokie Artichokie NY style and the Hawt Roni Sicilian style. Donβt ask me to choose between the two. They were both delicious, flavorful, fresh ingredients, well baked. I would recommend both. Great, friendly service as well. Definitely 5 stars!!
